Marrying Your Moroccan Partner in Agadir: How We Guide You

Marrying your Moroccan partner in Agadir
We guide UK women marrying a Moroccan man through the marriage documentation process in Agadir – from the paperwork you start at home to getting everyone to the big day.
We've been through this ourselves, so we know how it feels: documents from two countries, translations, stamps, appointments, and a lot of waiting in between. It's exciting, but it can be a lot to juggle from the UK.
MoroccoMe is a small, UK-based team working in Agadir only. We help you understand what needs doing and in what order, point you to the right people locally, and get you, your fiancé and your guests where you need to be – so you can spend more of your energy on each other.
Why we started this
Our founder, from Manchester, married her Moroccan husband here and went through this whole process herself. It was stressful – two countries, piles of documents and a lot of uncertainty. That's exactly why we now guide couples step by step, so you never feel on your own. – MoroccoMe founder
Around 3 months – In our experience, around 3 months from starting the paperwork to the wedding. Every couple is different, so it can be quicker or take longer.
UK first, then Morocco – Some important steps have to be done in the UK before you travel – and some of them take weeks. Starting early makes everything calmer.
Agadir only – We focus on Agadir and the surrounding area, working with trusted local partners we know well.
How it usually works
Think of this as a map, not a rulebook. Your adoul (Moroccan marriage notary) and the court will confirm exactly what they need for your file.
Part 1 · In the UK – What to sort before you travel
These are the things we'd encourage you to get moving on first.
Check you meet the conditions. Your fiancé must be a Moroccan national. GOV.UK says that, as a woman, you must be Christian, Jewish or Muslim – and getting married won't change your religion.
Get the document list from an adoul. Before applying for anything, find out exactly which documents the court in your area wants. Your fiancé or his family can often help make contact, and we can guide you to the right adoul.
Get proof you're free to marry. If you live in the UK, this is usually a certificate of no impediment from your local register office. You give notice and it's displayed for a set period, so allow several weeks. If you live outside the UK, GOV.UK explains a different route (a marital status affirmation).
Been married before? Get your proof ready. You'll need your decree absolute or final order, or your late husband's death certificate and marriage certificate, legalised in the UK.
Get UK documents apostilled. UK documents are legalised with an apostille by the FCDO Legalisation Office. The standard service can take a few weeks, so build this into your plans.
Gather originals, copies and your passport. Bring your originals (with any apostilles attached) plus copies, and check your passport is valid. Hold off on non-refundable bookings until your adoul has reviewed your documents.
Part 2 · In Agadir – The Morocco steps
Once you're here, the local side usually looks something like this.
Meet your adoul. Go through your documents together and confirm the full list for you and your fiancé.
Legalisation in Morocco. Some documents may need to be legalised by Morocco's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There's a legalisation office in Agadir.
Arabic translations. Your documents need translating into Arabic for the court, usually by a sworn, court-approved translator.
Medical certificates and your fiancé's papers. Both of you will usually need a medical certificate, and your fiancé will gather his own Moroccan documents.
The marriage file goes to the family court. The family court reviews your file and, once happy, authorises the adouls to draw up your marriage act.
Your marriage act. The adouls draw up the marriage act and the judge approves it. Keep it safe – many couples also get an English translation for use back in the UK.
How we can help
We guide you through the process and point you to the right people locally, so you're not doing it all alone from the UK.
Documentation guidance – We guide you step by step through the marriage paperwork, in the UK and in Agadir, so you know what's needed and in what order.
Translators – We point you to court-approved translators we trust.
Appointments – We guide you to the right adoul and offices and help you plan what to bring.
Transport – With our licensed transport partner, for you and your guests: airport pickups and drop-offs; transfers to appointments; transfers to and from the wedding.
How long does it take?
In our experience, around 3 months from start to wedding. That's what we've seen, not an official timeframe – courts and offices work at their own pace, so we always suggest building in a little breathing room.
What does it cost?
Costs on the Moroccan side depend on the location and the adoul you use, so we don't publish set prices. Tell us a little about your plans and we'll put together a quote for you.
Message us for a quote.
Please note: requirements can change, and different courts can ask for different documents. Please always check the latest official GOV.UK and consulate guidance before you apply for anything or book travel. MoroccoMe guides you to the right people and arranges transport through our licensed partner – we don't give legal advice and can't guarantee any decision by the authorities.
Ready to start planning?
Send us your rough dates and how many guests you're expecting, and we'll take it from there.
